Ask Rennie Vol. 8: Holiday Hoo-Ha

Posted on December 4th, 2011

Dear Rennie,

I don’t know if it’s Occupy Wall St., that freak October snowstorm or what, but my holiday fervor has about as much bounce as the elastic in Blanche DuBois’ oldest girdle. In order to try to plump up our sagging seasonal bouffants, my roommates and I have decided to put on a traditional living crèche. We’re a little confused—how much of a faux pas is it to eat the participating animals afterwards? We’re hoping the answer is ‘not at all’, because it’s this lamb, or, a tube of E-Z Cheez. And the E-Z Cheez has never crapped in the living room.

Ask Rennie Vol. 7: Death For Dinner

Posted on July 21st, 2011

Dear Rennie,

The dog days of summer always make me question the point in continuing on. My muumuu collection has lost its savor. I’m over the paleta craze. I don’t care how much artisinal elderflower water you made this spring, which chef secretly snorts coke off of the back of every menu in his restaurant after close, or how thoroughly you researched that chorizo. But then I remember that if I’m dead, I won’t have any way of seeing who’ll actually come to my funeral. Suggestions? I need something to stay my hand that isn’t as tired as last night’s chardonnay.

Yours truly,

Who didn’t read the C.S.Lewis classic late at night by the reedy glow of a nightlight and drool, wondering how to get one’s hands on some Turkish Delight? Never mind the burning question: What WAS it? Delight as an adult in this centuries’ old sweetmeat at long last, at any time of the day you choose. Eating whilst inside of a wardrobe strictly optional. As is waiting for Mr. Tumnus.
